Why Did Milkmen Ever Go Out of Style?
Unlike most people my age, I have daydreams in which someone starts delivering fresh milk in refillable glass bottles to my door every day. Why did we, as a nation, ever give up this wonderful system of dairy distribution? It sounds like a little piece of heaven to me.
At least I’ve found milk in refillable glass bottles not far from my house, at the Byrne Dairy on the corner of Union Street and Chili Avenue. I swear the milk tastes better than milk packaged in plastic, and the bottles make this wonderful clinking sound every time I open the refrigerator door. Byrne Diary doesn’t use rBST, but I have no idea what else they do or don’t use with their cows. My life would get a little closer to perfect if I could find a local supplier of organic milk from pasture-fed cows in refillable glass containers, so if anyone knows of one, please speak up.
